Mary Jo's Story
I graduated fro Baylor University in Waco in 1960. I married my college sweetheart on August 6, 1960. We moved from Waco to Pasadena, Texas where Weldon was full time music, youth, and education minister. I taught in the Deer Park Schools until our daughter was born on May 7, 1968. I went back to teaching the following year.
Weldon had resigned as a full time minister and had become the sales manager for the TTC Trammel company in Houston. He was now part time minister of music at Bayshore Baptist Church in La Porte. In 1978 we moved to The Woodlands. I began teaching at Knox Jr. High in The Woodlands. The Woodlands schools are a pat of the Conroe ISD. Weldon was a partner n a school activities supply company. a. He works with the businesses that have problems with their computers. Our daughter, Marcie, lives in Decatur, Alabama. She has three children and works in a pre-school setting.
She said as did I, I'll never teach. We both have eaten those words.
I lost Weldon in May of last year. We had been married 50 years. In the many years that we have lived in The Woodlands, he was minister of music in several of the small churches in the Montgomery County area and in northern Harris County. I retired in 2004 when he became ill. I now enjoy tutoring with the under privileged children through our church. I have two dogs. One is a chow mix and the other is a long coat chihuahua. They keep me company and are at times a problem, but they do not talked back as the 8th graders did.
